Argento Ball: Celebrating 25 Years of the Elton John AIDS Foundation

14 June 2018

Back

The Argento Ball for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in association with Bvlgari and Bob and Tamar Manoukian on Wednesday 27th June 2018 is a twofold celebration.

Firstly, the Argento Ball celebrates the Silver Anniversary of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Twenty-five years ago, EJAF embarked on the mission to create an AIDS free future in order to make the biggest possible difference to those living with HIV.

Over the last 25 years, our achievements include: reaching millions across 26 countries with the HIV information, support and care to save their lives and protect those they love; preventing almost a million babies being born with the HIV virus; and helping to leverage more than £300 million in additional funding from governments and funding partners.

This has transformed HIV from a death sentence to a manageable condition, which requires just one pill a day and the possibility of a normal life expectancy. Since our first ever summer ball back in 1999, global HIV treatment has expanded from less than 300,000 people to over 20 million.

On this note, the Argento Ball also sees the launch of this year’s fundraising campaign, which is aimed at young people at risk of HIV. This is primarily to ensure history does not repeat itself and reverse the 200,000 new HIV infections amongst young women and men each year.

Sir Elton John, David Furnish and our Trustees and Patrons request the pleasure of your company to celebrate this milestone with them. We are so very proud of the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s role in this extraordinary progress over 25 years and we very much hope you can join us to continue to create a future free from AIDS.

Adding to the special performance by the most successful recording artist of 2017, Ed Sheeran, Trustee of the Foundation Graham Norton will join us as MC for the evening. Nicole Parker, whose roles include Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, will treat guests to her legendary celebrity impressions featured on MAD TV. The night will end with dancing to DJ set from Platinum Award winning drum and bass band Rudimental.

We must thank our partners Bvlgari as well as our long-standing friends Bob and Tamar Manoukian who have ensured that 100% of your contributions will go towards continuing our vital work.

Tickets start at £3,500 per person. For ticket requests, sponsoring the event, advertising in the programme or any queries, please contact the Foundation office.
