Robert Key, the Executive Director of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding and dedicated service to charity over the past 15 years.
The New Year Honours List for 2008 was announced by Prime Minister Gordon Brown on the 29th December 2007.
Robert co-founded the Elton John AIDS Foundation in the United Kingdom with Sir Elton John and has been on the Board of Directors of the Elton John AIDS Foundation in the USA since 1993. He has been the Executive Director of the Elton John AIDS Foundation (UK) ever since.
During the past 15 years, the two organisations have raised over US$120 million which has been used to support more than 4000 projects across 55 countries reaching millions of people infected, affected or at risk of HIV/AIDS.
